...the British-born illustrator Gerald Ranson noticed an architectural oddity: a tiny, one-story shop, sandwiched between skyscrapers. He decided to sketch it. Over the course of several years, Gerry sketched over forty such shops. He called the project, "Squeezing Out a Living in NYC."
Why? What's there now? How has the neighborhood changed? And who were the people behind these little shops? What became of them?
